Overview

A UPI QR code lets anyone in India pay you instantly with a single scan — no need to share your phone number, account number, or IFSC. Our free UPI QR code generator encodes your UPI ID, payee name, and optional amount into a standard upi://pay URI. It works with every UPI app: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, WhatsApp Pay, and Indian banking apps. Print it on a counter, invoice, donation card, or product tag.

What is it?

A UPI QR code encodes a upi://pay URI so any UPI-enabled app — GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, and others — can scan it and initiate a payment directly to your UPI ID. The payee can also enter their own amount when the field is left blank.

How it works

  1. 01

Enter your UPI ID (for example, name@bank).

  2. 02

Enter the payee name as it should appear in the payment app.

  3. 03

Optionally set a fixed amount and a transaction note.

  4. 04

Generate and download the QR code.

Benefits

  • Works with all major UPI apps in India.
  • Optional fixed amount removes manual entry errors at the counter.
  • No server involved — generated entirely in your browser.
  • Print it for your counter, invoice, storefront, or donation drive.
  • Accepts payments 24/7 without a physical card reader.
  • Faster checkout for customers — one scan to pay.

Best practices

  • Use your real, bank-registered name as the payee name so customers can verify the recipient.
  • Print the QR code at a size visible from the counter (at least 5 × 5 cm).
  • Add a small text label like 'Scan to pay with any UPI app' so first-time users understand.
  • Include a transaction note for fixed amounts so customers can identify the order.
  • Use a fixed amount for invoices, ticket sales, and donations to avoid confusion.
  • Leave the amount blank for shop counters where each customer pays a different total.
  • Test the QR code with at least two UPI apps before printing in volume.
  • Display a backup QR code in case the first is damaged or covered.

Common mistakes

  • Typos in the UPI ID — payments to a wrong UPI ID are difficult to reverse.
  • Using a personal name that does not match the bank account — payments may be flagged or rejected.
  • Printing at too low a resolution — the code may not scan reliably under bright lights.
  • Skipping the transaction note — customers will not know what the payment is for.

Use cases

  • Shop counters and food stalls accepting UPI payments.
  • Freelancers adding a payment QR to invoices and proposals.
  • Event registrations with a fixed ticket fee.
  • Donation drives with a preset amount and a clear note.
  • Temples, NGOs, and charities collecting UPI donations.
  • Service businesses like salons, repair shops, and consultants.
  • Restaurants and cafes offering cashless payment at the table.
  • Online sellers sending a UPI QR via chat for direct payment.

Frequently asked questions

Which UPI apps can scan this QR code?

Any app that supports the upi://pay URI scheme — including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, WhatsApp Pay, and most Indian banking apps.

Is the amount mandatory?

No. Leave the amount blank and the payer can enter any amount in their UPI app. Set a fixed amount for invoices, tickets, and donations to avoid manual errors.

Is my UPI ID stored anywhere?

No. The QR code is generated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Your UPI ID stays on your device.

Can I use this for international payments?

UPI is an Indian payment system. The QR code will only work with UPI-enabled apps and Indian bank accounts. For international payments, use a different method.

What is the difference between UPI ID and phone number?

A UPI ID is a virtual payment address like name@bank. It is safer to share than a phone number or account number. The QR code encodes your UPI ID, not the number.

Do UPI QR codes expire?

No. Static UPI QR codes do not expire. They keep working as long as your UPI ID is active and linked to a valid bank account.

What is a transaction note used for?

The note is a short message (up to 80 characters) that the payer can see in their payment confirmation. Use it to identify the order, table, or donation purpose.

Is the UPI QR code generator free?

Yes. Ready QR Hub generates UPI QR codes for free, with no usage limits and no watermarks.
