A QR code — short for Quick Response code — is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information in a square pattern of dark and light modules. A brief history of QR codes

The QR code was invented in 1994 by Denso Wave, a subsidiary of the Japanese automotive company Denso, which supplies parts to Toyota.
